My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you’re looking for the sweetest little shadow who is always ready to snuggle, Whiskey Eggnog could be your guy! He was recently owner surrendered, at no fault of his own, after living outside in a climate controlled pen his entire life.

Whiskey has spent his first week with his foster family indulging his curiosity and discovering all the joys of being an inside dog (minus accidentally banging on the keys of a piano and startling himself when it responded by loudly playing a few notes…he says he’d happily not do that again and now gives the instrument a wide berth). Admittedly, sometimes his excitement over his new life does get the best of him, so he’s working on some manners mostly focused around not surfing counters and jumping on people. Whiskey is doing great with house training and in the meantime doesn’t mind wearing a belly band to protect from accidents.

He does well in a crate while his family is away and at night, though he would happily snoozle in bed with his humans, if invited. So far, his foster family has not observed any inappropriate chewing and very little barking outside of when they initially leave the house, but he settles down quickly. Whiskey gets along well with the other two dogs in his foster home and in the last couple of days has even started to figure out the joy of dog toys! We have discovered he does not like puppies. We don't know why but he will growl at puppies, even if they are just on TV.

“Whiskey” has been his name since birth and he responds well to it, which makes training easier. He is 14 months old and currently 21 lbs. He is a bit underweight, so his food intake has been increased and Whiskey is absolutely THRILLED with this plan, enthusiastically scarfing down every morsel at meal times along with some extra treats throughout the day! He is current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, and will be neutered on the 21st. The pink mark on his nose that looks like a heart turned out to be a small injury, but it’s healing nicely.
