My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee:  $300.00

Orvis is a beautiful 4 yo Black and Tan male weighing just under 70 lbs.  Like so many of our dogs, his past was speckled with multiple owners, and he appears desperate to claim a stable home of his own.  So far, he is slowly gaining much needed weight and is well on his way to becoming a solid family member.

Orvis currently shares his foster home with a dominant senior female (see Hope, available senior dogs) who often engages him in rather rough play.  This guy is often taken by surprise yet consistently respects her superiority with care.  In fact, this duo offers each other much needed comfort and stability as they become familiar with the weekly routine.  Neighborhood walks are an absolute highlight when he can read the local pee-mails and eagerly reply to all. He is alert to other dogs along his path but follows cues well to ignore their unwanted distractions.

When it comes to meeting humans, this guy is ready to make friends with uninhibited joy.  In fact, his primary interest is to ‘stick with the humans’ and will jump into action for any opportunity to join in on an adventure, even if it is doing a load of laundry!  He has a strong desire to please and corrects with ease.  in the home, he will rest close to his human and offer spontaneous wags with a simple glimpse or whisper his way.  Despite his strong human connection, he does very well alone during long workdays. Not surprisingly, he will display exuberance when you return and is inclined to jump up so he can greet you face to face.  He is quickly learning restraint as he learns he is not forever forgotten. However, caution with small children until he consistently contains his excitement.

Orvis is game for any car adventure and where he will wait patiently for his human to return.  He is housebroken and accustomed to using a dog door.  He waits patiently for food and treats with gentle acceptance.  At bedtime, he will enter his crate on his own where he sleeps soundly all night.

This sweet boy will make a wonderful addition to a family willing to offer him stability and new opportunities to explore with growing confidence.
