My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60634
ESTIMATED DOB: 08/2013
COLOR/BREED: Black Shorthair
KIDS: Older
DOGS: Maybe
CATS: Yes

HISTORY:
Inky came from a hoarding home.

ABOUT:
Inky is a very sweet kitty. She can be a tad reserved at first, but she loves attention once she gets to know you. She wants to be brave enough to meet everyone, but it can take her a little bit of time. Her love of treats and toys can help bring her around faster. Inky doesn’t have any off-limits petting areas and she even seems to enjoy being held a little bit.

Inky is affectionate, but is not needy. She is happy to entertain herself if you are busy or away from the house. She enjoys finding a nice perch for a nap or to watch the goings on in the house. Inky probably likes to make lists and organize spreadsheets, so she will do best in a calm, predictable home.

Although Inky is around 10 years old, she still loves to play with toys. Her foster said she is into all kinds of toys: mice, crinkle balls, toys where the ball rolls around the outside. Inky’s foster home says she loves tube treats, but only if you squeeze it out onto a plate for her.

Inky is not being fostered with children. Inky can be a little timid, so homes with young, active children will likely not be her jam. Periodic visits with children, or living with calm, older children would likely be OK. Inky is being fostered with another cat from the same home as her. The other cat likes to hiss at her at random, but they never have any issues and coexist just fine. Inky might enjoy living with another, more hospitable, kitty friend. Inky is being fostered in a home with small dogs. She has the option to come upstairs to meet them, but has never decided to do so. She can hear, and smell them, but chooses to keep her distance. Although her ideal home would likely be canine free, she might adapt to homes with very calm dogs who won’t bother her as long as she has a slow introduction period and a place to feel safe.

A heart murmur was discovered at her initial exam. She had a cardiology appointment with an echocardiogram. No medication is needed at this time, she just needs to be monitored for any signs of progression.
