Orly was found on the streets of Mexico in an abandoned building with three other dogs(siblings) left to fend for themselves. Orly is a sensitive dog and is a gentle soul despite his history. He is playful, loving and quite the character. When excited he stamps his feet and chomps the air as his tail wags in circles. If asked to do something he doesn’t want to do he will pretend he has an emergency ear itch, flop t his side and scratch is ear as if to say, “I can’t hear you”. Speaking of ears, his velvety soft floppers are rarely in sync or doing the same thing!!

Orly loves the beach! Walking the shore line and quietly watching the birds is his favourite way to pass the time. We don’t know about his swimming skills yet, but it may be worth a try for this boy).

When he gets a bit mischievous, it is impossible to stay upset with him as he will “smile” and ham it up until he has you laughing. He loves to see/hear you happy and laughing. He is a pup that is eager to please so training will be a breeze. When you are in the preparation of food or sitting eating your food and he gets a little too close or begging, he will leave the room or back to a predetermined location with a “manners” command. He is extremely gentle while taking teats.

Orly is very good on leash, walks on your left side and does stop before crossing the road with the command “stop”. He loves to meet other dogs while out on his walks and is filled with joy when he comes up to them. He is hyper diligent of his surroundings until he knows he is safe.

Orly is trepidatious when meeting new people but is extra cautious when meeting men. Extra time and attention needs to be taken before introducing new people to his environment. He does jump up on occasion but just needs a gentle reminder that it is not ok.

Orly’s ideal home would be one with a fenced in yard where he could run and expend some of his puppy energy. He is not vocal so he is fine in an apartment or condo as long as he gets the required walks throughout the day. He needs a patient and gentle hand so someone with dog experience is highly recommend. He is house trained and crate trained and someone working from home or part of the day a few days a week would be ideal at the beginning for him. An active family who’s more outdoor orientated looking for a travel/adventure companion is something he would love. Orly’s athletic nature leans him towards this lifestyle and currently he does walk approximately 5 km over the day. He’s happy anywhere his human is and chooses positive reinforcement/cuddles over food. He loves to be the centre of attention. He is good with other dogs, and we would would highly recommend he have a dog buddy in the home.

If you feel you would be the right fit for Orly, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.allpawsmatter.ca/apply-to-adopt/

All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.

NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed.

BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
