My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tanner is a very sweet and calm senior boy about 12y that just wants to be where you are. He does not bark, bother with your things or even play with toys for that matter. He does love people, kids as well as treats. He has been the perfect indoor pet, who just wants to hang out and spend most of his day relaxing or hanging with you. Tanner loves to go on walks, hikes, trips to the dog park on a regular basis (but mostly just walks around and not pay too much attention to the other dogs), and seeing new places. He's been on several road trips, camping, pampered at the finest dog friendly hotels, flown to D.C, and even climbed every step of the Lincoln Memorial.
Tanner has had spinal surgery, so he has a bit of a limp and needs to be picked up correctly. He needs blankets underneath him when resting (hard for him to lay flat), not climb many stairs if possible. Other than that, he runs around just fine.

More about this rescue

Lionel's Legacy is a San Diego based senior dog rescue and elementary humane education program. We provide a last chance for senior dogs entering the shelter systems in both San Diego and Los Angeles. We solely rely on fosters to care for our seniors temporarily while looking for their furever home or as permanent hospice fosters when the need arises.

We also believe in early education as a means of preventing pet overpopulation. As a second grade teacher at Central elementary in San Diego, I see first hand the difference educating our brilliant young minds can make.

Lionel's Legacy- Saving ONE senior dog at a time and educating MANY young minds to leave a legacy of compassion and advocacy!
