My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Willow needs:
-Fenced yard
-An active adult home or one with kids over 12
-Someone at home part of the day

Hi! My name is Willow. I’m a female Terrier mix, about 2 years old, and I weighed 22 pounds the last time I checked. I will probably end up around 20 pounds after losing all the baby weight. You see I was picked up by Animal Control in a gas station parking lot and I was very pregnant. They knew who my owner was, but he said he did not want me back. Can you imagine? My foster family can't because they think I am the sweetest girl. I had my babies at the shelter and SBRET took me and my family in the next day. I was a wonderful mom and now I will make a wonderful companion for someone!

As you can see from my pictures, I have the scruffy good looks of a terrier and pure white fur, except for one cute little black spot on my tail.

I have a playful, puppy-like side to my personality and would do best with someone who likes to be outside with me some and is willing to go for a walk (or a hike!) with me every day. I love to run and play, so a fenced yard would be perfect. I had such a rough start on life and enjoy the freedom of a fenced yard so much SBRET wants me to have one in my forever home. I would enjoy a canine friend to play with but would be fine being an only dog, as long as you are willing to walk and play with me. Once my exercise requirements are met I am up for chilling and cuddling on the couch while you watch TV or read a book.

I am doing well with my housetraining but have small pee accidents sometimes when I get overly excited or scared. My foster mom and dad are working on that by making their arrivals home and other exciting or scary things very low key, and it’s working. I can be left alone for 2-3 hours at a time without issues. I sleep through the night in my own dog bed next to my foster parents’ bed.

I am learning to walk on a leash and have made great progress in just a couple of weeks. I am smart and am eager to please! I respond well to my name and to commands such as “sit”, “down”, and “come”. I need more practice with “come”. I understand “stay” and with continued practice I will get better. I have learned to “stay” in my dog bed (foster mom has several throughout the house) and not follow foster mom from room to room.

I am a bit nervous about new things and new people, but I warm up to people once introduced. I bark just a little to let you know when someone is at the door.

I have been spayed, microchipped, and am up-to-date on my shots, heartworm and flea/tick prevention. I’m a very sweet girl (everybody says so!) and I am looking forward to meeting you! My adoption fee is $175.
