My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Daisy Mae is a 2-3 year old little gal that we think might be a LlaShiPoo (llaso Apso, Shih Tzu, Poodle mix). Whatever she is, she is a spunky, energetic girl looking for a new home.

Daisy was adopted from us last year after she came into the rescue. Sadly, her last owner had to make the hard choice of returning her due to being diagnosed with cancer. We, of course, took her back and she is settling in with her foster family.

Daisy is spayed, up to date on vaccines/preventatives, heartworm negative (at the time of testing), and was recently groomed. She is pretty good going potty outside and will use a piddle pad inside. She will definitely need someone who will walk her often and establish a potty routine. She likes to be brushed and will need fairly frequent grooming. At 17 lbs, she is a little bit overweight, she will need to lose a pound or three.

Daisy loves to go for walks, car rides, playing, and romping around. She is still very puppyish and mischievous. Sometimes she can be a little mouthy when she's playing. She is crate trained, but doesn't love it. She, so far, has not been destructive in the house, but loves to explore in low trash cans. Daisy loves to sleep on the couch or in your bed if you will let her. However, sometimes when you ask her to do something she doesn't want to do, like get off the couch, she gets cranky and growls. She does not like to be startled when she's sleeping either. She may growl or nip.

Daisy is particular about other dogs she meets. Another small/medium, laid back dog might be okay. An assertive dog is probably not for her. She has not bothered the kitties in her home. Squirrels are very exciting for her!

She was exposed to younger children in her previous home and did okay, but she was STRICTLY supervised because Daisy is resource protective, especially with treats/food. Toy protection is not quite as bad, but should be considered when playing with her and reaching for toys. She will growl and nip when shes protecting something. Future adopters need to understand how to recognize and manage this behavior and there should be no small children in the home.

She is a super sweet girl with a few quirks. If you think you can commit to her, work with her, burn her energy, and give her a great home, please fill out an application. But, before you do, stop and think about her energy level, her age (she should live 15+ more years), and her quirks and whether or not you can manage them. We really want her to find her forever home.
