My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone, my name is Cocoa. I am a beautiful malamute, and I am looking forward to my 4th birthday party in April. I am hoping you can be the one to celebrate my big day and give me doggie birthday cake! Both of my beloved humans have developed some serious health issues and must find a new home for me. They are so sad, but know Moonsong will do their best!

I love to play with balls and sticks, and when we are in the house my favorite place is on your feet. Don’t move them, I will just sit on them again. 😊 I probably would do best in a home where I can be the only princess, but I also really enjoy doggy daycare. How about this: I have an inclination to like kitties. Not in a bad way! If you have a dog-wise cat, it might work. My neighbors had a kitty I liked to visit with. I like to sleep inside at night, and I am house trained, and am doing great with crate training in the house. When we go for car rides, I ride in a crate. Like all malamutes, I am a strong girl, and pull a bit on the leash, but once I settle down, I am great.

Moonsong says I would be good with children 8 and older (due to my size). I am spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and am microchipped.

Please consider taking me into your home so we can celebrate my birthday together!

More about this rescue

We're glad you stopped by to check out our Mallies in need of their "furever" homes! We are federally recognized non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to assisting Alaskan Malamutes and their owners when in crisis throughout the Intermountain West. Please be aware that Moonsong Malamute Rescue (MMR) is not a shelter or humane society. We are affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL), which is the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate to AMAL, MMR operates under AMAL's code of ethics.

We offer educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, are able to help an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and provide behavioral issues support in the form of referrals to trainers and other more experienced Malamute owners. These funds are also used to help care for Malamutes with adoptable personalities who have been pulled from shelters, or who have been seized by authorities after having been abandoned, neglected, or abused.
