My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Hula was brought in by a community member on August 5, 2023.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Hula, the dazzling beauty who effortlessly captivates everyone she meets! This stunning girl is guaranteed to turn heads wherever she goes, showcasing not only her looks but also her unique personality. While initially a bit reserved, Hula warms with a little patience and loves spending time with her favorite people. It's worth noting that Hula is not just a pretty face; she possesses some impressive skills, including the ability to sit on command! Once comfortable, Hula's goofy personality shines through as she loves cuddles and massages from her favorite humans. She has exhibited some prey drive towards small critters in our care, so Hula is best suited to be the only furry friend in the home. Her ideal family would be a mellow one, without any kiddos running around. With patience, TLC, and positive reinforcement training, Hula is on track to becoming an extraordinary companion! If you're ready to invite this enchanting pup into your life, make your way to our Oceanside campus and be sure to bring a leash and collar. Hula's next adventure awaits, and she's ready to embark on it with you!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
