My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Stuart!

Stuart came to AFRP with a broken leg (ouch!) but bounced back like the absolute legend he is. Now he’s fully healed and ready to find his forever humans… preferably ones ready for endless cuddles, sloppy kisses, and occasional stuffy destruction.

This Shepherd mix has no idea how big he is—but he doesn’t care. Your lap? Too small? Perfect, he’ll make it work. No couch cushion is safe from his gangly charm. He’s a professional stuffy un-stuffer, obsessed with bones, and will happily destroy his Kongs in record time!

Stuart loves other dogs and dreams of a home with a playful pup buddy, but his humans are still #1. He’s potty trained, crate trained, walks well on leash, and even graduated from an eight-week training course with Unchained (yes, he’s smart enough to pull off the himbo look and know his basic commands).

His perfect home? Experienced humans who get that himbos are big, silly, loveable, and sometimes a little clumsy. Adult adopters or families with kids over 6 would be ideal. Cats? Unknown at this time, but may do well with slow intros!

** This pet is a Foster-to-Adopt candidate!

That means you can foster them for a short trial period to make sure they’re the perfect match for your home before finalizing the adoption. If you’re interested, please complete both a foster application and an adoption application so we can get the process started. **

Stuart is currently in a loving foster home. A meet and greet can be scheduled once an online application has been submitted and approved by AFRP staff. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org to fill one out today!

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees help to cover the cost of the care the animal has received during their time with us, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment and basic foster care.

All potential adopters complete an application and are screened using a standardized series of questions by a trained adoption counselor. If the application and screening are satisfactory, a qualified adopter can complete a contract, pay the adoption fee and take the animal home.
