My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cash in with Penny!

Hello! My name is Penny, and I’m a shiny and new 9-month-old, 34-pound, Chihuahua/Terrier mix.  I’m a healthy girl who has already been spayed.

My foster mama says that I am just the sweetest girl.  I was rescued from Ellos Son La Razon, but that experience didn’t phase me one bit! I have a heart of gold and love meeting new human and doggie friends.  True to my puppy nature, I’ve got lots of energy, and one of my favorite things to do is run around on dog beach.  I also love playing fetch and tug-o-war.

As far as my training goes, I’m already potty-trained and crate-trained.  My leash manners are also on-point.  I don’t like being left alone, though, but show only mild symptoms of separate anxiety when my humans leave.

I think I’d do best in an active home, preferably one that has humans around most of the day to keep me company.  I love doggies and kiddos and would love to have them around – the more, the merrier!  Other than that, I just want to be loved unconditionally and promise to love you with all my heart in return.

My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
