My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shine bright like Orion!

Hey fellas! My name is Orion, also called Bern by my family. I am a 3 year old, neutered male Terrier mix, weighing about 39 lbs. I have a special story! My mama was a TAP rescue and had me and my siblings under foster care. I was adopted by a wonderful family as a pup who showed me immense love and patience. However, they realized that I would be far happier in a home with another dog, and hence, here I am, looking for my furever home. I have separation anxiety and I do tremendously better with a dog buddy. I am on Prozac too for anxiety. Also, my sweaters and outfits help me a lot! I am fully bathroom and leash trained. I have graduated obedience training and I am a dog daycare pup.

I am a sweetie pie and anyone who meets me absolutely falls in love with my bat ears! I am shy around strangers and need a bit of time to warm up, but once I have them in my circle of trust, I am the absolute cuddle bug with them! I am a medium energy guy, and need minimal grooming. Super low maintenance! I love my family and can be a lil shadow around them. I am great with dogs, and I would definitely need to be in a home with a dog sibling who can be my role model and help me stay calm. The only way I could stay at home without my pawrents, was with another dog. I am not fond of kitties. I don't have a lot of experience with kiddos, and I think older ones would be better.

A home that I will thrive in, must be with a lot of love and patience, to allow me to be the best boy ever. I will need some decompression time to settle down and definitely need a good dog sibling to mentor me. My ideal family will have a WFH situation or someone as my companion throughout. A mellow home would be perfect. If you think we are made for each other, let's meet up! My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
