My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wally has a heart as big as the ocean!

Whale hello! Ahem, I mean… well hello there! My name is Walrus. I’m a loving, curious boy who is working on my confidence. I’m 3 years old, 46 pounds, neutered, and healthy! I was relinquished to TAP because I “wasn’t getting along” with resident dogs. When I was rescued, I had cuts on my face and was very fearful. My crate was my safe place but I’m slowly warming up and becoming the happy boy that I was born to be. Now that I’ve waved farewell to my past life, I’m ready to swim on into a furever home with you!

Due to the trauma I’ve been through, it takes me time to come out of my shell. My foster has been so loving and patient and I’m learning so much from these positive interactions! Now, I play fetch, run around, play with my toys, and enjoy walks. I’m starting to like the idea of cuddling, which is so much pawgress from where I was. I know I’ll only continue to grow once I find a family of my own.

I’m a well-behaved boy who does well with other dogs and cats. I’ve met kids in passing on walks and we got along well, too! I’m bathroom, crate, and leash trained. I don’t have any separation anxiety when you have to go out, but I do love joining you for an adventure!

My past life was a bit of a beach, but I’m ready for paradise with you! If you’re looking for a sweet pup who will steal your heart, I’m your guy. I would love someone who can continue to allow me to build my comfort and confidence. I know that with more time and lots of love, my pawsonality will continue to shine!

My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
