Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Doodad was found wandering in the cold weather of Iowa winter right before Christmas. He wandered around- heartbroken. A good Samaritan scooped him up and we put him under our wing of protection he became. We loved him at his first sad face encounter. Sometimes we can just read the GOOD off a dog's eyes, and Doodad is pure good!

He's fairly chill, meaning low to medium energy. He has the potential to do well with dogs, pending a met and greet and respectful children. He's is loving, sweet, walks gentle on a lead, and takes treats with the best manners. Doodad is waiting for a forever home and he cannot wait to infuse it with all his awesome! He loves, loves being a family man. It's a position invented for him, as far as he's concerned!

Doodad is not in the main public section of the shelter, so be sure to ask for him by name if you come to visit him!

All adoptions must be done in person. Prospective adopters must meet the pet and complete the adoption application and questionnaire during the initial visit to our shelter at 2802 W Central Park Ave, Davenport, IA.

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
