Patrick and his friend CJ came to rescue after they were found running stray on a bitter cold day. They had gone beneath the porch of an abandoned house and were shivering and suffering from frostbite and low body temperature. Patrick and CJ had been seen in the area for a few weeks prior to being taken in, they weren't in terrific condition and they were very scared. Since being in a loving environment, Patrick is seeking affection and is eating well. His house training is coming along and he is enjoying the company of humans and other pets in the home. Ideally Patrick (and CJ) will be in a home with another friendly dog, and a human that will continue to support him, and work on his confidence. Overall, Patrick is doing great and has come very far. He does enjoy going out with supervision in his fenced yard and he enjoys walks with his foster parents in a park.
If you want to meet Patrick please submit an application and it will be forwarded to his foster and a time to meet will be arranged. Patrick is about 3 years old, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. He also got a dental cleaning and his adoption fee is $375.

**If you are unable to pay the adoption fee ($250 and up), we are unable to place a dog in your care. Being unable to meet the financial obligations of pet care (recurrent or emergent) is one of many reasons why so many of these pets end up in rescue. It's not lack of love.**
We require an adoption application, and then we will check references. We also check with vets. If the person is not LOCAL then we will partner with a local animal control to complete a home visit.
There are adoption fees associated with the costs of veterinary care of the pet. We require an adoption contract to be signed to finalize the adoption process and we have an agreement that all our pets are to be Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. pets for LIFE. In other words, in the event that they can not stay in their adoptive home, they are not to be surrendered to another individual or rescue.

Chihuahua Rescue Indiana Inc. is a non profit, all volunteer rescue working with Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The pets are housed in individual volunteer foster homes, not kennels or shelters until they are adopted permanently. We get to know our animals and therefore can tell the potential adopter what the traits of the animal are and what home would be the best for the pet. We are dedicated to the adoption, education, rescue and transportation of the Chihuahua breed. We believe that every Chihuahua deserves a loving home.
