My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Comet is a beautiful, silky black male cat. He is a playful little bundle of energy, with beautiful golden eyes. He's not quite ready to take on the role of cuddler, but if you give it time, we're sure he will. He was the largest/oldest of the group of littermates that were brought in from living outdoors under tarps and struggling to survive, and he may have taken on the "oldest child" role of protector, so has been slower to trust humans. He absolutely loves his toys and his moist food. In a patient home, he will learn to trust his people and will provide years of love and devotion. He has stellar litter box habits and loves other cats. He has never met a dog, but is young enough to adapt if the introductions were slow and careful. He is a very, very shy boy who needs a patient, loving home and time to learn to trust his humans.

If you are interested in an animal you’ve seen on our website, you can call 519-833-2287 or send an email to learn more about them. You can also stop by the shelter to meet the animal in person. It may take a few visits to find the animal that is a perfect match for you.

You can stop by the shelter Monday through Sunday from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

You may wish to call the shelter before visiting to confirm the location and availability of the animal you would like to meet. The UCHS staff can let you know if the animal is currently at the shelter or at one of our remote locations, such as a foster home, local pet supply store or our Thrift Shop.
