We at All Paws Matter believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. This is now a requirement in our adoption process. Proof of training classes for puppies specifically is required before adoption.

Berna is a sweet soul with much love to give. A space in her owners arms or at their side is where she feels most safe. When she bonds, she greets with excited butt wags and kisses that melt your heart. She absolutely loves her walks and playtime once she feels safe and comfortable. She jumps in the car with ease and loves to sit passenger princess with reassuring pets.

Her ideal home must be one with a securely fenced yard and adopters who have patience, patience, patience as she needs a lot of time to decompress and feel comfortable in her new space. She is a beautiful dog but shows the scars of a rough life.

She is a fearful dog, trauma from her past makes every experience a scary one for her, but the joy it brings to the heart when she accomplished these things and enjoys them makes you smile. She does her business outside, and whines to signal when she would like to go. She remains calm in the crate at nights and while no one is home. Her crate is her safe place so we recommend she continue with it in the adopters home.

She is good with calm, dog savvy children as she is a scared dog. She loves babies, so a home with either babies or children 6+ would be best. She adores her foster’s 5 year old son and seeks comfort in him when afraid. She walks very well on leash and gets very excited when she does her duties and is rewarded. She is prey driven with rodents. Has no reaction to cats and we feel, with proper introduction she would be fine. She does well with calm dogs, not big dogs with lots of energy. She would do well with an older or senior dog, one that she feels safe with and protected . She is shy at first but tends to gravitate towards women fairly quickly when given a chance. She loves the people she knows but is fearful of men (not aggressive) as long as she has someone she trusts she does well with company. She is resilient, and soft, and gentle, and her eyes melt your heart. Any one would be lucky to have sweet Berna.

All APM dogs are UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, Heart worm (4dx snap) tested and arrive with a health certificate. They come to adopter with a harness, a collar and two leashes for safety.

NOTE: The above description is relevant to this dog in its current and previous setting. Home changes and adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen. We also do not claim or suggest that our dogs are hypo-allergenic or that they shed/do not shed.

BREED DISCLAIMER: We are never sure of the breed of our dogs since they arrive off the streets or shelters. It is a guess only!
