My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing ROSCO, the larger-than-life terrier mix with a heart of gold! At 73 pounds and 3 years young, ROSCO is a gentle giant who prances around like a majestic steed. While he may be a bit selective with other animals, he's an absolute gem with children over 12. With ROSCO by your side, get ready for adventures filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of cuddles! Adopt this lovable furball and let the fun begin! 🐾

ROSCO is microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations and monthly preventatives. If interested in ROSCO feel free to stop by the shelter or give us a call at 740-314-5583.
Give us a call at (740) 314-5583 for more information!

More about this shelter

We are the Jefferson County Humane Society and , except for our humane officers (who are paid very nominally), we are all volunteers! Our members were instrumental in getting a local levy passed to build a new and larger shelter and the doors opened in 2011. We are currently participating in Iams Home for the Holidays Program and the Purina Pets for People grant program. We are actively pursuing other grants and recently have been asked by the county to partner with them in the operation of the new shelter. Since we are a humane society, our main focus is on getting animals spayed and neutered so there are no more homeless pets. To that end, we bring in a mobile animal surgical clinic who performs spays and neuters at a reduced rate. We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts and, of course, for financial contributions (we are a non-profit, 501 (c)3) and pet adopters! Other items such as food, treats, pet carriers, cages, leashes, collars, food bowls, etc. are also ALWAYS welcomed and appreciated. Please contact us if you have an item to be donated or would like to volunteer with us to try to save some of these homeless, but very loveable, dogs!
