My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Shezam 6871
An hour spent with Shezam in the bark park is better than a dozen rides on a Six Flags rollercoaster. This friendly 1-year-old American Bully will take you to places that you have never experienced, all in the confines of a doggy playground. It took Shezam only 10 seconds of freedom in the bark park to find a tennis ball and give it the ride of its life. Despite her boundless playful energies, Shezam takes treats respectfully and most of the time will come running to you when called, if she isn’t giving a thrill journey to a lucky squeaky. Her non-stop “ear-to-ear” smiles and good-natured antics brought joy and laughter to all the bark park participants.

Although Shezam still needs to work on her walkie skill set, she showed her mellow, contented persona as she leaned lovingly against the leg of a Humane Society volunteer while looking up with a “ I am proud to be with you” appreciative grin. Shezam also loves to serenely rollover next to her human and receive a well-deserved relaxing tummy rub.

Shezam was instantly given her perfectly descriptive girl-power name and may have a chance for a movie contract with Marvel Cinematic Studio’s. If you are ready to be wowed and have a place in your heart for a “what you see is what I am” gal, Shezam is ready and waiting for you at the Humane Society in Rogers, AR……. Just say the word!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is $70 which covers all the basic shots and worming medications appropriate for the age of the animal as well as the required spaying or neutering. If the animal is too young to be neutered, a voucher is presented to the adopter to cover the process at a participating vet. Rabies shots are not included. We have an application process in which we ask basic questions to insure that you and the chosen pet are a good match for each other. We do require a vet reference. If you have been arrested and convicted of animal abuse or neglect, you will not be considered for adoption. If you do not own your home, a letter from the landlord giving permission to have a pet is required. Local ordinances regarding maximum numbers of pets shall be observed. All other household pets must be spayed or neutered. All pets are adopted "as is." Should the pet not work out after you take it home, we ask that you return the animal to us for re-homing. We want each animal to find a loving forever home and reserve the right to refuse any application should the individual needs of the chosen animal not be in that dog's best interest. Contact our office for inquiries and applications.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society for Animals is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides for the welfare of dogs and cats in Benton County through shelter and adoption services, spaying and neutering vouchers, and humane education.
The Humane Society for Animals has held over 90,000 animals since it originally opened in 1972. Our facility at 1st and Nursery Rd. was built in 1980 and continuously houses a total of around 85 dogs and 20 cats. Most of our cats and dogs are strays that have been dumped or abandoned. Others come from local animal control agencies and from people who can no longer care for them, that live in the county. We offer the public numerous opportunities either to donate or get involved. Please contact us to see how you can help.
