My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Elise is one of five dogs we took in from the Washburn County hoarding case. These pups would likely adjust quicker and be happier in a home with other canine companions but it is not required.

Pros:
*Young and a quick learner!
*Has been around cats before and done okay
*Has done well with other dogs
*Keeps her kennel fairly clean
*Doesn't destroy toys or bedding
*Will only be about 45-50 pounds full-grown

Cons:
*Hasn't learned a lot of the basics of being a dog i.e. leash skills, basic commands, how to play with toys
*Isn't yet house-trained
*Likes to "herd" other dogs which is not always the best method of play

Fill out an adoption application and if approved, we will reach out within two days to set up a 60-minute meet-and-greet/adoption appointment. All dog adoptions include one free week of virtual training through the service GoodPUP.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Barron County is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter serving Barron County and surrounding areas.

Established in 1978 by a small but dedicated group of core volunteers, the HSBC started out with these volunteers taking animals into their own homes and advertising the need for forever homes for these animals. Over the years, since this humble beginning the HSBC has grown into the organization that it is today. From the homes of volunteers, relying on fundraising and the generous donations of our community, we have grown into and remain in our home on Guy Avenue in Barron.

HSBC is operated by a small staff and relies heavily on volunteers, as well as funds from donations, adoptions, memberships and fundraisers to keep our doors open for the animals needing our assistance.

We sincerely thank you for making this possible.
