My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bateman has arrived from Florida! After enduring cruelty in his last home, he is ready for a new loving life!

Here is what we were told about him:
"He is 1.5 years old and 36 pounds. He should weigh about 45 once he gains some weight back. Did great with other dogs and loves people. When taken into the play yard he trots right next to the human waiting for pets. Calm and sweet boy that’s eager to please. He enjoys attention and peanut butter kongs."

He is much smaller than we had thought he'd be and is a little nervous after the long drive but still seeks love and affection from the HSBC staff even though they are strangers to him right now.

Do you think your the home Bateman has been dreaming of? Fill out our adoption application and if approved we will reach out within two days to set up a 60-minute meet-and-greet/adoption appointment. All dog adoptions include one free week of training through the service GoodPup.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Barron County is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter serving Barron County and surrounding areas.

Established in 1978 by a small but dedicated group of core volunteers, the HSBC started out with these volunteers taking animals into their own homes and advertising the need for forever homes for these animals. Over the years, since this humble beginning the HSBC has grown into the organization that it is today. From the homes of volunteers, relying on fundraising and the generous donations of our community, we have grown into and remain in our home on Guy Avenue in Barron.

HSBC is operated by a small staff and relies heavily on volunteers, as well as funds from donations, adoptions, memberships and fundraisers to keep our doors open for the animals needing our assistance.

We sincerely thank you for making this possible.
