My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lele is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match!

Lele is so pretty and petite! We just adore her. Lele grew up in a shelter in Kentucky-- she had been there since she was 3 months old. A few weeks before she came to us she found a foster down in Kentucky who had 7 other dogs! The foster has reached out to us because she loved Lele. She said Lele only ever had one accident inside, during a bad storm!

It is important to know that Lele will be extremely shy with new people at first. She is actually a huge cuddler and a very outgoing dog, especially in playgroup! She is no wallflower! But the Lele you will first meet will likely come across as very shut down. So please watch her videos to see her true personality!

She gets a lot of confidence from other dogs, she loves to go on walks with another dog friend and be in playgroup. Lele has done great in playgroups with other dogs, and is super easy and gentle to walk on a leash.

During her medical exam, she sniffed several cats who were at her face level (in cages) and did not bat an eye. We do think she could live with a cat, too!

Lele recently went to a foster home with a couple and their dog. It took Lele two days to open up, and now she is doing amazing!

Her foster mom says, "Lele is doing great! She's eating normally now and really opening up and getting more bold and friendly. She has never had an accident, so I think is fully potty trained. She does great in the kennel and actually seems to consider it her safe space so goes in it willingly. We haven't left her alone in the house for more than about an hour yet, but she did well with it. She gets along great with our dog and is walking well. She listens well (jumps on the counter but always listens when we say down).

We hope you will inquire about Lele soon!

Lele's adoption fee is $250. This animal is spayed, is up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
