All about Martini from her foster home!

How would you describe the cat's general personality?
Martini  is a sweet old lady who loves sleeping and getting pet. She is very relaxed. She is really affectionate and people-oriented, but super chill at the same time -- she comes to check on me from time to time, and she likes to cuddle up at night, but otherwise she is happy to nap the day away.

Does the cat enjoy being pet?
Yes!

If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?
She loves getting scratched on the head and underneath her chin, and she loves getting brushed on her cheeks

Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched?
I did not discover any particular spots, but she can sometimes get overstimulated. She will gently nip or hiss when she's had enough.

Does the cat come on your lap?
No, but she often hangs out in the same room or beside me on the couch

Does the cat like to be held?
No

Does the cat sleep in your bed?
Yes! She sleeps in my bed every night

Does the cat seek your attention?
Yes

Does the cat like to play?
Not particularly -- she'll sometimes kick around a toy for a few seconds but I haven't seen any toys that hold her attention much

What are the cat's favorite games and toys?
She likes the small catnip fish, and she'll sometimes swat around a toy mouse

How vocal is the cat?
She's very vocal!

What kinds of sounds does the cat make?
She has a distinctive scratchy meow, like a rusty door hinge (or maybe a chain smoker?) I call it her "grandma meow". She meows at me a lot in the morning. She also sometimes meows very loudly from the other side of the house -- I will meow back at her and we can go back and forth for a while. She also has the loudest purr I've ever heard -- I can hear her halfway across the room!

Does the cat scratch a scratcher?
Yes

Does the cat always use the litter box?
Yes

What food and frequency is the cat currently eating?
Fancy Feast chicken feast, classic pate

What is the cat's favorite treat?
She likes Temptations and canned tuna. She really likes salami too but I only give her some once in a while, it's not very healthy

Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances?
She has once or twice, when she was playing with the catnip toy and I reached in to pet her -- she seemed to want to play with my hands

Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you?
No

Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you?
Once or twice

Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)?
No

To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful?
She is generally fearful at first and will hide, but she can easily be bribed with Temptations

Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?
She purrs a LOT -- when she sleeps next to me she is constantly purring. She likes to sniff the ground and she will sniff and purr at the same time, so it sounds like a snorting noise.

In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt?
I would say her super loud purr. I think an adopter should choose  Martini  because she clearly has so much love to give -- she warmed up to me so much in just 2-3 months, and I am sure she will bond with someone wonderfully when she finds her home.

What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them?
Martini  needs to take medication for her chronic constipation. It is a liquid med and the important thing is that she takes the entire dose. Giving it to her orally was difficult, but I figured out how to make her accept her food with the meds mixed in by splitting it into 2 daily doses and feeding on a regular schedule. She also should only eat wet food, preferably mixed with a bit of water. It takes a minute or two longer than usual to feed her because the food needs to be mixed each time, but it's totally manageable.
