Nod is very sweet and also a bit skittish since her arrival on 4/9.
Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, especially on her head, neck and back. She does not like her belly touched so far.
Does the cat come on your lap? No
Does the cat like to be held? She doesn’t object immediately, but she soon squirms away.
Does the cat sleep in your bed? Sometimes she sleeps at the foot of the bed.
Does the cat seek your attention? Sometimes.
Does the cat like to play? Yes! She loves chasing balls or playing with mouse toys. She also likes the laser pointer.
How vocal is the cat? She meows quite a bit, but it is not very loud.
What kinds of sounds does the cat make? She meows and she purrs.
Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes.
Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, no issues.
Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No
Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No
Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No
Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No
How does the cat react to new people? Skittish but not hostile; she was letting my boyfriend and me pet her (and she purred) within half an hour of getting to my house.
Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? She sometimes flops on the floor, which is adorable. She also purrs immediately upon contact and for the full duration of the petting session, which is excellent.
What is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? She is very sweet and never swats, scratches, or bites.
What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? She doesn’t seek out affection, which some people might not like (i.e. not a lap cat or a “velcro kitty”). However, she purrs generously and is receptive to pets. Someone who wants an independent cat would love her, as would someone who has a young kid and is worried about the kid getting scratched (she never bites or uses claws, as far as I know).
Nod has lived happily with in a multi-pet household with both cats and dogs. She will be spayed on 4/23 and will be ready go go to her new home starting 4/24.
