My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rosie's dream is to love and be loved!

She came to us as a stray, and hasn't looked back. She would love to be with those who are looking for a gray shadow to follow them wherever they go and never wish to sit on the couch alone again!

She enjoys the company people. She has embraced her new life, and approaches new experiences confidently. She enjoys walks, and has honed in on her leash skills. Her favorite pastimes include sunbathing, a long walk to sniff out the curiosities of the world, and hanging with her humans on the couch! She knows sit and is eager to learn new things, treat motivated and wants to please her humans so badly.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
