My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Fee:  $300.00

Tundra is a 2 1/2 yo Black & Cream male Shepherd mix weighing in at 68 lbs.  Little is known about his past, however in the short time he has been in our organization, he is showing features of a truly adaptable companion.

Initially, this boy was upside down when entering his new foster home. He hesitated to come indoors, was afraid to step on a dog bed, and froze stiff when ‘Mission Impossible’ appeared on the Big screen TV.  Within a couple days, he has overcome these obstacles and finds his home to be his place of safety and comfort.   In fact, you will often find him resting peacefully on a dog bed ready to offer a joyful ‘wag’ if you choose to look his way (or better yet, offer him a belly rub).  He may rearrange blankets or shoes to create his nest where he often rests his head for a nap.  Tundra is very connected to his human and seems to have complete trust and contentment just with your company.  It is a challenge for him to be left alone during periodic long workdays. Securing safe containment will be necessary as he adjusts to a new routine and learns ‘his family will return’.  When reuniting, he tends to jump up with excitement, so caution with small children. This behavior is diminishing rapidly with corrections combined with rewarding pets while sitting still for his greetings.

Tundra has been known to get along with other dogs well.  He currently resides with his senior co-foster (see ‘Hope’) with whom he engages in chase and frolicky play on a regular basis.  They have quickly become close, and she offers him stability as he adjusts to the household routine.  He enjoys his daily walks where he has learned to ignore tempting triggers and loud vehicles. If he does become aroused, he will sit on cue and calmly wait until he receives direction from his human.  He is eager to join in on car rides and is learning to master the art of ‘loading up’ into the vehicle.  Once inside, he rides like a champ.

Tundra is house-broken and accustomed to using a dog door.  He enters his crate at night where he sleeps soundly.  This guy has unique patience in him and quickly learns how to please.   He is a package of contentment with few demands other than your dedicated company.

No cats.  Small critters unknown.
