My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Loving, affectionate, smart, loyal, athletic - all qualities that describe sweet boy Ashton. Ashton was spotted by one of our rescue partners in a local Houston park where he was abandoned and in need of veterinary treatment. He showed nothing but pure delight when he was rescued and received care, as if he knew his future now looked brighter and more promising. Ashton is now good and ready for his forever home. If you are looking for an intelligent, loyal, athletic, true companion that will not only soak up all the love and attention you give him but will gleefully return it then Ashton is your boy. He loves to give kisses and be with his caregiver. If you're sitting, Ashton will surely be beside you or in your lap. Daily physical and mental activity is a must for Ashton so if you're an outdoorsy person who goes on brisk daily walks or hikes you would be a great candidate as his forever family. Ashton wants to spread his happy love so much that sometimes it's hard for him to contain his joy so some basic obedience training where he can learn to more calmly say hello would also be beneficial. Right now, he wants to be up and in your arms giving you kisses to say hello lol. We have to admit, though, we do adore his affectionate personality. Ashton is a smart smart boy and will learn quickly with consistency, routine and positive reinforcement. He can be a bit excitable around other dogs so we recommend a home without another dog at this time. No cats please. Ashton is up to date with age appropriate vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. His estimated birth is January 2023 and his weight is currently 40 lbs. To learn more about Ashton and for an application, please email adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org

We are always in need of foster homes. If interested in making a difference in a dog's life we would love to share with you what it means to be a foster parent.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are dedicated to ensuring that our dogs go to a "forever" loving, nurturing home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.

Go meet their pets

We provide adoption opportunities for those living in the Northeast who are willing to do long distance adoptions. Many of our dogs live in Wharton, Texas but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.

More about this rescue

Smiling Dog Farms is a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue. We strive to restore hope to the forgotten, neglected and rejected unwanted dogs and puppies rescued from the streets and local kill-shelters. Each dog that enters our rescue receives their full round of vaccinations, gets spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and placed on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.
