My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Marissa deserves better than spending her days at a shelter. Marissa has been through alot. Upon being rescued and having given birth and nursing her 13 pups until they were able to thrive on their own, she now deserves her chance at a real life, not living her days at a shelter. Although she is well cared for here, she deserves more. Would you consider providing Marissa a temporary home serving as her foster family while we actively continue to network her until we find her that perfect match that will provide her with a permanent, loving home? Foster homes greatly increase the chances of speedier adoptions and you'd be making a huge, positive difference in the life of an animal who needs you. Please read on to learn a bit more about Marissa and please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you have. We answer all emails.

Marissa was found abandoned in the middle of nowhere with 13 newborn puppies. She was in obvious need of assistance with no food and shelter in site. She was loving right from the start, welcoming our help and caring for and nurturing her newborns wonderfully. With steady proper nourishment she was able to nurse each and every one of her pups who are all thriving to this day. Now it's Marissa's turn to be doted on by a family that will welcome her into their hearts and home with open arms, a family that will spoil her rotten and show her just how great life can be. She's a deserving girl, sweet and attentive towards humans; likes to be pet and snuggled. She's not crazy about cats and can show a dominant posture at first greeting with other dogs. She greets us every day with a smile that just brightens our hearts. We approximate her to be around 3 1/2 years old. She's at the perfect age where she's got the puppy mischievous behind her but young enough where she would love daily activity including walks and playtime and plenty of downtime beside her human. She weighs around 50 lbs, is spayed, up to date with vaccinations and micro-chipped. If interested, please email adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org for an application.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are dedicated to ensuring that our dogs go to a "forever" loving, nurturing home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.

Go meet their pets

We provide adoption opportunities for those living in the Northeast who are willing to do long distance adoptions. Many of our dogs live in Wharton, Texas but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.

More about this rescue

Smiling Dog Farms is a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue. We strive to restore hope to the forgotten, neglected and rejected unwanted dogs and puppies rescued from the streets and local kill-shelters. Each dog that enters our rescue receives their full round of vaccinations, gets spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and placed on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.
