My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gina!

Gina entered Long Beach Animal Services as a stray. When she wasn't claimed, we scooped her up on February 27th to become a Frosted Face. She is 11 years old and weighs 8 lbs. Gina is very sweet, gives kisses, and loves to snuggle and burrow in blankets!

Gina went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what she is like in a home, while she got to be part of a family again. During her Fling, Gina had spay and tumor removal surgery. She was a perfect patient, didn't bother her incision site, and and is doing great!
Her Fling Mom reports:

"Gina will need a loving and patient forever family as she adjusts to her new routine and surroundings. She will snuggle with you if you initiate it and is totally cool with anyone picking her up. She loves soft beds and burrowing under blankets. She tolerates the crate but did better in a small space (such as an Xpen) with a comfy bed.

Gina does great on a leash and loves to walk and sniff. She does have some arthritis in her hind legs so I didn't push the distance past a mile, although I think she could go forever!

Gina did great with my dog and took cues from her on our routine. She also did great with some big dogs she met in the neighborhood.

Gina is a great eater if it's meaty and took her pills easily wrapped in lunch meat. She likes to circle when you are preparing her food. Then she goes crazy jumping around because she is so excited to eat!

I believe Gina was possibly in a house with a doggie door because it seemed like she was searching for one. She would walk to our slider door if she needed to go potty. If I didn't notice, then she would pace and move in tight circles to let me know it was time to go.

Gina is go with the flow kind of gal, and she takes naps often. She did pace around a lot, but if I kept her area small, then she would calm down and make herself comfy in a bed. Gina was my little shadow, and if I got up to do anything, she followed me.

I think Gina will need a family that understands canine cognitive dysfunction and acts with love and patience. Then they will have such a goofy, fun, loving, and sweet brown Chihuahua!"

Gina is back on-site and is ready to meet her forever family! Might that be you?

Come meet Gina during Open House on Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 and 1:00!
