My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: Knoxville, TN

Meet Rudy, a 4.5 month old neutered cattle dog mix. Rudy is extremely fond of cuddling. He also loves running in mud puddles, chasing balls, and playing with his three foster siblings who are also cattle dogs and cattle dog mixes.
Rudy plays hard, likes challenges, and was voted by his fur siblings as most likely to counter surf. He's definitely earned one of his nicknames, Houdini. Rudy loves people, especially children, and will sit for pets whenever he meets them on adventures. He has a high prey drive, is still teething, and very mouthy, so he would be better with older children and no small animals. Rudy is progressing well with potty and crate training, but still has accidents. Being smart as a whip, he picks up on new commands easily. He's very confident in familiar places, but will need some continued work and training for new situations.
Rudy is fully vetted and microchiped.

Despite being a mix, Rudy is all cattle dog with very high energy and will need an experienced adopter. His ideal home would include a patient like minded fur sibling for adventures and a family willing to put in the time and effort he needs to be the fabulous adult he can be. A good attitude about challenges is a must. A fenced in yard would be preferred.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
