My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Francis, a remarkable dog with a heart as big as his will to overcome challenges. Francis found himself at the crossroads of despair when his previous owner, refusing to treat Francis's diabetes, took him to the vet to have him euthanatized. Neglected and in dire straits, Francis was in a near-death state, his untreated diabetes pushing him to the brink.

Fortunately, fate intervened, and the compassionate staff at the veterinary hospital rallied to save Francis. Through dedicated efforts, they regulated his condition and, realizing the extent of his needs, a vet tech provided foster care for a month to ensure he was on the path to recovery. Then, Francis made his way to our rescue, where we are now searching out a second chance for him at a loving forever home.

Francis, despite his health setbacks, embodies resilience and a spirit that refuses to be dimmed. His daily routine involves insulin injections to manage his diabetes, coupled with a special diet tailored to keep him healthy and happy.

Beyond his medical history, Francis shines as a delightful companion. His friendly demeanor and gentle disposition make him a joy to be around. Francis not only gets along famously with other dogs but also adores the company of humans. His loving nature is a testament to the resilience of animals when given the chance to thrive.

To ensure Francis continues to flourish, we seek an adopter with experience in caring for special needs dogs. Dedication to his medical requirements and a commitment to maintaining his well-being are crucial. The reward for such efforts is immeasurable - a loyal friend who, despite life's challenges, remains an embodiment of love and perseverance.

Consider opening your heart and home to Francis, and witness the transformation of a survivor into a cherished member of your family. Please inquire today!

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
