My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Ripley, an energetic gal who loves to play!

I had the privilege of being in a foster home for a bit and my foster mom discovered I love ice cubes, my favorite treat and I am housebroken. I take treats very gently and I know a few tricks, like sit, down, and give paw. My favorite toys are, well... ALL OF THEM! I'm not picky. I like hanging out with you on the couch and trying to sit in your lap. I'm just a big baby. But I do know they tell me I'm such a good girl!

We believe Ripley may do well with dogs, cats, and kids based on what we have seen so far and previous information from her last owner and would be happy to provide resources on doing those introductions for success!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
