My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Hansel! No, not the Hansel from the classic Hansel and Gretel fame. But make no mistake, this boy is going places! He’s as sweet as pie, and will happily follow you if you drop morsels of food along the way.
This sweet soul came from Alabama as part of a hoarding case of more than 40 dogs. He ended up in a shelter with his fur siblings - Harriet and Harper. Hansel a beautiful boy, albeit a tad shy. His only request is someone to snuggle with and share your food with. This dachshund mix is good with dogs and cats, but has not been around kids while with our rescue. We imagine small kids would scare him though.
He’s a good size at 18 lbs. and around 4-5 years old. Hansel is doing well with his potty training, but will also use a pee pad inside.   He now walks well on a leash and harness. We do want Hansel to go to a home with another friendly dog around his size to help give him confidence. Hansel is not a digger and does not try to dig out of a fenced yard. If you have a loving, forever home for Hansel,  and you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area, complete an app and tell us more about you.
