My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sunshine, a gorgeous young lady who is a bright as her colour!

Sunshine was found in a ditch in May 2023 with her brother Sunray, and taken into a shelter.
Months went by and both Sunshine and Sunray came to live a small foster home in Toronto.

The world was super scary when she first got to her foster home, but in a couple of weeks Sunshine has absolutely blossomed.

She is a super sweet, affectionate and quirky girl who is always down for head and back rubs.
She also wants to be a part of everything you do!
Cooking dinner? She wants to know what's on the menu.
Washing your face? She's there supervise.
Scrolling social media? She'll sit on your lap and scroll for you (seriously).
Sitting down to eat some tasty salmon or chicken? She'll be more than happy to reach out her paw and help herself.

If she feels there's something to be said she will say it!
You'll be laughing at the way she talks to herself (it sounds like she's talking with a mouth full of water).

Sunshine is a super smart and hilarious cat that will always be there to put a smile on your face.
She is a very special girl that is on the lookout for her perfect forever home and ultimately a best friend, as she bonds very closely with her people.

Sunshine will always have that shy side that comes out when scary things happen (like the vacuum or strangers).
She requires a home that understands her shy side and and is willing and happy to go at her pace in the beginning.

This incredible girl is so ready for her first ever (and last ever) forever home.
She has so much love to give and just needs the right family to give it to.

Sunshine would thrive in a calm adult only home without dogs.
Sunshine bonds really closely to her people and loves to be with them, so a home where her family is around more would be perfect.

Sunshine is bonded to her brother Sunray and MUST be adopted with him

Additional adoption info

***Please bear in mind that it is against Abbey Cat policy to adopt a single kitten under the age of 6 months to a home without a kitten of similar age for company.***

Due to an unprecedented demand (especially for kittens) we regret that we are unable to respond by phone to all of the applications we are currently receiving.

We are only able at this time to phone those applicants who have sent in an online adoption application, can provide a vet reference and their criteria matches what the particular cat or kittens' needs are.

We regret any inconvenience caused as we do our best to meet the overwhelming demand we are currently experiencing.

We want to make sure that our rescued cats and kittens go to good, loving homes so before we adopt, an adoption counselor will conduct a short pre-adoption interview to make sure that you and the cat are a good match.

More about this rescue

Abbey Cat Adoptions is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to finding permanent homes for unwanted cats and kittens throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Each year, ACA rescues cats from outdoor environments and overcrowded shelters.
Our cats live in a network of volunteer foster homes throughout the GTA until they are adopted into suitable, loving homes; we do not have a shelter.
We are not government funded and we have no paid staff; we rely exclusively on the generosity of like-minded animal lovers to fund our program.
