GRANGER is a 4-year-old mixed breed with a huge heart, a sharp mind, and a real zest for life. He’s truly a dog trainer’s dream — every trainer who meets him adores him. He’s incredibly smart and could excel at advanced training, obstacle work, or even specialized tasks like rat hunting.
GRANGER is wonderful on walks, learns quickly, and makes training sessions easy and genuinely fun. He’s eager to please, highly engaged, and doesn’t show any food aggression, which makes daily routines and mealtimes a breeze.
Playtime is one of his favorite things! Whether it’s fetch or tug-of-war, GRANGER could happily play all day if you let him. He’s joyful, goofy, and full of personality.
At home, GRANGER is deeply devoted to his people. He bonds closely with his family and takes his role as a protector seriously. He’s not excessively barky, but he will guard the front door like a champ. Because of this protective nature, GRANGER needs a calm, adult-only home with no children and minimal visitors, as frequent comings and goings can be stressful for him.
GRANGER’s ideal home is one with experienced, dog-savvy adults who appreciate a loyal companion, enjoy training and enrichment, and want a dog who will be their true best friend.

More about this rescue
S.T.A.R.T. (A 501c3 non-profit) was formed in May 2011 by Steve Spiro, Suzanna Urszuly, Rene Ruston and Adam Tarshsis.
We began raising money and transporting dogs from high kill shelters here in California and sending them via our van or plane to Oregon, Washington (WA) and Canada where they go to reputable no kill shelters or foster homes.
To date we have transported over 5,800 doomed death row dogs who are placed into loving homes. Our reputation is growing as is our demand from out of state groups in the north west who know how bad the animal situation in LA is and want to get involved and receive our dogs/cats.
We have also started a second division of our group which is SPAY - NEUTER: this is where we believe the real animal control problem lies. Over 4,000,000 unwanted animals are killed each year in the US because of breeding and unfixed pets. We are planning to raise money to fund low income families to fix their dogs and have had several meeting with city and county shelters to help fund a spay/neuter program. We have already set up our first program where we fund 60 dogs to be spay/neutered monthly in Riverside County.
