My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: Williamsport, PA.

Hobo is ready to hitch a ride to a forever home!  Hobo was found as a stray in Georgia before coming to ACDRA.  He’s a true-blue cattle dog – loyal, confident, focused and smart.  Hobo is very friendly and loves nothing more than to be with his people.   He is approximately 7-9 years old, neutered, housebroken, heartworm negative, and up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives.   He weighs 43 lbs..

Hobo is dog friendly; he currently lives with a foster sister who normally isn’t a fan of other dogs, but he seems to have charmed her.  If she gets snarky, he just backs off.   Cats are unknown so no cats or dog-savvy cats only.  Because he can get mouthy and loves to herd, no small children.  12+ years only.

Hobo is an active guy of medium energy.  He came into rescue with several health issues   ( E hrlichiosis e ar  i nfection, and  a s kin problem), all of which have been treated.   He is left with two permanent issues – hearing loss and arthritis.  He has very limited hearing, but regardless he always seems to know when you get up, even if he has his back to you.  No sneaking around behind this guy!  His arthritis means he can’t be a hiking or long distance walking companion, but he still loves shorter walks and chasing a ball.  Don’t be fooled – he is still very active and does need exercise and stimulation like any cattle dog.

Hobo walks  nicely  on leash .  He also  rides well in the car after taking a few minutes to settle down.   He is unable to jump into the car but can be lifted and I’m sure taught to use a ramp.  Hobo would be fine as either an only dog or in a multi-dog home.  He has no separation anxiety and can be left loose in the house when his people are gone without issue.

Hobo’s perfect home would have a fenced yard, due to his hearing issues, with someone who walks or plays with him daily.  He would excel at something like  Nosework .  Hobo is being fostered in South Williamsport, PA.  Any questions, contact his foster mom at  loftus0828@gmail.com .  To submit an application go to  adoption applicati o n (acdra.org)

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
