My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

*COURTESY POST*

This is baby Oscar. Oscar was found as a stray when he was approximately 5-6 months old and has been at the shelter for 8 months. He was a happy, playful dog but he is breaking down in the shelter environment. We know that this sounds bad BUT it is not his fault! The shelter environment is causing him distress which in turn causes undesirable behaviors. He really needs a foster home where he can decompress and learn to trust again.

Oscar needs a foster with LOADS of patience and someone willing to continue working with the shelter on his training. They want to help Oscar be the best dog ever and they desperately need a foster who is willing to help Oscar do that. He needs a foster home with experience and people who will not give up on him after a day or two. He needs TIME. He also needs a home without other animals or children. Because he is breaking down, it is causing him to be reactive to other animals. We know finding a home without pets is tough but please spread the word... his person/people are out there! Please go to the Cattaraugus County SPCA website to apply to foster this sweet boy! https://spcacattco.org/volunteer/ or call them at (716) 372-8492

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require each applicant to complete an adoption application, followed by a home visit. We also contact personal and veterinarian references. We want to make sure that the next home our furbabies go to, is their last, and that they will be loved like a member of the family.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster based rescue, but do also have a small shelter. You can contact us at diamondunderdogs@yahoo.com to setup an appointment to come out and check out some of our adoptables.

More about this rescue

Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue is a non profit animal rescue organization that is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Our mission is to protect the welfare of animals, one life at a time, from unnecessary euthanasia. From high kill shelters to foster homes to caring adoptive families, Diamonds in the Ruff handles every aspect of the rescue process. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive necessary medical treatment. Foster homes are used to provide sanctuary and ensure a successful placement. Our goal is to make the adoption process a kind, informative and rewarding experience because we believe that every animal can become a treasured family pet.

Why we do it:
4 million animals are euthanized each year in the United States.
That is 300,000 a month
Over 11,000 each day
Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue works tirelessly to decrease this statistic.
