My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Could you help out a fellow American who's down on his luck? Bugsy's mommy had to move away, and Bugsy can't come with her! Poor Bugsy! He needs a new furever home, with a loving caregiver or family looking for oh, just the most adorable companionship ever.

Bugsy is friendly, active, energetic, and inquisitive. He is housebroken, crate trained, understands basic commands and follows them relatively well (he had some professional coaching). He is great with new people and groups, though he hasn't met any young children yet. He is relatively well-mannered; he doesn't chew non-food objects much and takes redirection easily, and knows not to go through the garbage (even though he really wants to!).

Bugsy is a good boy that not upset by background dogs or cats. He enjoys playing with other dogs in a park or yard, but he sometimes has a rough play style. He would ideally be a solo pet initially, with other pet integration potentially possible if handled very gently. He is super friendly with adult people, including groups, but hasn't met any kids (he'll probably love them). He's a snuggler once it's quiet time, and currently a morning pooper.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require each applicant to complete an adoption application, followed by a home visit. We also contact personal and veterinarian references. We want to make sure that the next home our furbabies go to, is their last, and that they will be loved like a member of the family.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster based rescue, but do also have a small shelter. You can contact us at diamondunderdogs@yahoo.com to setup an appointment to come out and check out some of our adoptables.

More about this rescue

Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue is a non profit animal rescue organization that is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Our mission is to protect the welfare of animals, one life at a time, from unnecessary euthanasia. From high kill shelters to foster homes to caring adoptive families, Diamonds in the Ruff handles every aspect of the rescue process. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive necessary medical treatment. Foster homes are used to provide sanctuary and ensure a successful placement. Our goal is to make the adoption process a kind, informative and rewarding experience because we believe that every animal can become a treasured family pet.

Why we do it:
4 million animals are euthanized each year in the United States.
That is 300,000 a month
Over 11,000 each day
Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue works tirelessly to decrease this statistic.
