My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi folks, my name is Charley (AKA Buddy). If you want to skip the puppy phase and be friends with a older, more distinguished gentleman such as myself, I could be your guy!

I was found hanging around the grounds at Tuba City High School. I wasn't bothering anyone, and after a few days of being there, people decided I might not have a home and brought me to Dr. Holgate's office.

I've been living with my foster mom and dog and cat siblings, learning how to be a house dog. At first, I was afraid and didn't want to go inside, and stayed outside at night. But when the weather turned cold, my foster mom insisted I come inside. I stuck pretty close to her and she encouraged me through new situations - new hallways and doors, loud noises on the TV... these were all things that seemed scary! I will need someone who can continue to help me build my confidence and know that life doesn't have to be scary!

My foster mom describes me as a very sweet, loving boy. I give her kisses when I'm happy! I love to hang out with my foster sibs. Sometimes we play, but I also like to snuggle up in my dog bed and sleep. I'm pretty chill. I love a good snack and a sunny spot to curl up in. My little stubby tail wags when I am happy, and sometimes my whole hind end wiggles with it when I'm excited.

I have all my shots, am microchipped and recently was neutered. I need some practice getting the hang of potty training, because I'm not used to house life just yet. However, I moved in to Flagstaff with a new foster family at the end of March, and I have access to a doggie door and let myself in and out! I am a fan of the dogs and cat here, too.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in one of our animals, please fill out an adoption application, located on our web site here: http://tubacityhumanesociety.org/adoptions/ . There is more information about our adoption process, including our adoption fees, on that page. In general, fill out an adoption application, and then photo or scan it to our email at tubacityhumane@gmail.com, and that enables us to start a conversation with you. From there, the foster would usually set up a meet and greet with the animal you are interested in. We like all family members to meet the animal, and any other pets as well. We do require a home check. Adoption fees do not cover our veterinary cost, but do help us to continue our work. All animals are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Most animals are also microchipped.

Go meet their pets

Arrangements can usually be made to meet most of our adoptable animals in Flagstaff. The process starts by filling out an application and returning it to to us through email. Some animals are fostered in Tuba City or other locations. We do attend some adoption events in Flagstaff.

More about this rescue

We are a small rescue/foster group located in Tuba City, AZ, on the western Navajo Nation. We do not have a facility. We have two main programs: rescue of homeless animals in need, and a low-cost spay/neuter program for the public. We rely on donations to continue our work.
