My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SHY, SWEET, OLD LADY

It's time to bring home the bacon, or rather, Bacon Indiana! This tabby cat is the epitome of a cute little old lady. She is cautious at first, but once she warms up to people is very sweet.

Bacon Indiana likes her downtime more than her playtime, but can't say no to a crinkly catnip toy or hidden treats in a mat. She's like a little piglet whenever she snuffles around to search for them. Whenever she gets some love, Bacon Indiana chirps, purrs, and shows off her "elevator butt.

Bacon Indiana's hesitance to trust is mostly due to her blindness. After developing glaucoma at a previous shelter, her eyes were removed by enucleation. However, don't consider her condition a disability! Blind cats are amazing. They learn to navigate their environment using their superpower hearing and memory. Show Bacon Indiana where things are, and soon she will be walking around the house like a cat with perfect vision. Her foster has been teaching her cues for when she is about to be touched, which make her much more comfortable with the contact. She would also benefit from a water fountain, so she can hear where it is, and a low entrance litterbox in her new home.

With some patience and a calm environment, Bacon Indiana will thrive. If Bacon Indiana sounds like the purr-fect kitty for you, contact APA to learn more!

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
