My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GERMAN SHEPHERD AVAILABLE TO FOSTER, ADOPT, OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT

It’s a harsh reality, but when shelters receive a high number of intakes and have no more room, dogs either need to be transferred to rescue partners or be euthanized. Such is the case for this beautiful 5-year-old female German Shepherd who was at risk for euthanasia due to lack of space. Louve is now safe in Kiko’s care, and ready for either temporary foster care or a permanent home.

For most of her life, Louve was used for breeding. Now that her money-making days are over, she’s ready to be a treasured pet. Louve is not used to the hustle and bustle of the city, and would prefer a calm and cozy home in the country. She’s housetrained and can stay loose when alone without mishap. Louve is very friendly with humans, including children, and even adapts well to cats, chickens, and horses. She doesn't care for small dogs, but loves dogs her size or bigger. While being an excellent passenger in the car, Louve has a penchant for chasing anything on wheels, so care must be taken until she can get used to things rolling by.

Louve was super nice at a recent vet exam, weighing in at a petite 60 pounds. She’s in great health, with no joint problems and a nice set of pearly whites. Louve is allergic to chicken, and will do well on either a raw diet or a fish-based kibble. She’s not a big drinker, but water added to her food at mealtimes will ensure she gets enough hydration.

If you’re interested in giving Louve a forever home, please complete the adoption questionnaire on our website at www.kikodogrescue.ca. If you would like to offer to be a temporary foster only, please complete the temporary foster home questionnaire. You can also send us a PM or email us at info@kikodogrescue.ca with any questions you may have. We are active in the Greater Montreal and Eastern Ontario areas, and are also open to applicants from elsewhere willing to drive to us.
