My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shiloh is a beautiful and sweet as can be Poodle / Havanese mix with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular and beloved breed mixes that are excellent companions for dog-loving families.

Shiloh is a sweet and loving little guy who is very shy after spending his first years in a dark and gloomy commercial breeding facility. He was recognized for his excellent temperament and is now searching for a patient and loving home that will show him kindness and teach him that the world is a loving and safe place.

Farfel's feels it's very important that sweet Shiloh participates in virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free training classes to build his confidence and teach him the skills to go out in the world with great behavior. A positive training experience is also one of the most important elements in a family successfully bonding with their new rescue dog.

Shiloh loves the company of other like-sized dogs and enjoys playtime and fun with his canine friends. Due to his background, Shiloh is initially nervous when meeting humans, but with kindness, love and patience, we have no doubt that this little guy will come around to be a full-time best friend.

Farfel's would like to see Shiloh in a home with a safe fenced yard where he can run and play with his best friends. Sweet Shiloh doesn't have his leash skills at this point but with training, patience and another canine companion to show him the ropes, he will develop the skills to enjoy his leash walks.

Shiloh's rescuer has shared that this sweet Poodle / Havanese is coming around more and more each day. He is allowing petting and closeness that he hadn't previously. While he still has a ways to go, this little guy is happy, playful and loving his new life.

Shiloh's foster mom also shared that he is usually happy in a crate (occasional complaining but very happy for the most part). She said that it provides him a safe place and has been fixed up with a cushy crate mat, toys and water. She gives Shiloh a kong frozen with toddler baby food to teach him that a crate is a safe and positive place to be.

Shiloh, at between seven and eight years old, is just naturally a lover who has had a very sad life. But when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just has to melt.

Shiloh is a snuggler at heart! He wants so much to cuddle but it takes a bit of time for him to feel safe enough to dog so. This little guy loves his rescuer mom so much and after some time with her, he's asking for pets and loving.

Shiloh will have so much fun exploring, and ultimately taking long walks along Colorado's gorgeous paths and trails. His previous life had been about darkness and confinement, but now that he's in a foster home with a loving and involved family, every day is an adventure filled with new experiences and relationships...and this little guy is having the time of his life!

Shiloh's rescuer mom had the following to say about this sweet guy: Shiloh is a dream dog waiting to happen as so much love and kindness lives inside of him! We would love to see him in a home with a quiet and patient family that understands that with time, this little dog will blossom into an amazing family dog. Dog-crazy retirees who have the time and love for a very sweet pup would be perfect for our sweet pup. We'd hate to see Shiloh left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. He seems too sensitive for that type of arrangement. Shiloh will thrive with spending the days near his people...getting treats and hugs periodically throughout the day is a dream come true for our sweet guy.

Farfel's would like to see Shiloh in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important to the future behaviors of every dog that we're unwilling to adopt Shiloh out to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.

Shiloh's breeds support that he's a non-shedding guy (perfect for those with allergy concerns). He will therefore require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming (approximately every 8 - 10 weeks) and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great lifelong protocols for coat care and general health) to keep his coat cottony-soft, matte-free and shining with great health.

Shiloh has been fully vetted, vaccinated and neutered. These protocols support Farfel's adherence to adopting out only healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation crisis within the canine community.

Shiloh is scheduled to arrive on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/12//2024...if this should change, we'll update with new information. Applications are currently being accepted for this very sweet, loving and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Shiloh please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
