My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are Beagle crazy these days, and we are thrilled to have a family of Gorgeous Beagles at our Rescue. Chase was found with his siblings, Hunter, Jack, and Ginger as country strays in North Carolina. They were rounded up by Animal Control Officers and brought to a high kill Shelter.

Chase and his siblings were beloved residents at their rural Shelter, and they were quickly transferred to us before their euthanasia date. Although it seems that Chase has been raised with siblings, we have socialized him with other dogs, so that he can be adopted alone. Of course, he also could be adopted with one of his siblings to folks who would like a pair of compatible dogs.

Chase would be an excellent family dog, and is affectionate with adults and older children, who have been taught to treat animals with respect. He could easily join a multi-dog home because he seems to enjoy other dogs so much. We have not tested him with cats.

At just two years old, Chase is a beautiful boy with black and tan coloring. He is a small dog at just 24 pounds. Beagle lovers will find him true to the Beagle breed standard. As a scent hound, he is nose driven and preoccupied with any interesting smells. While Chase derives a lot of mental stimulation from leisurely strolls, he also needs brisk focused leash walks to perfect his heel command, and work off some energy.

Chase is shy at first, but warms quickly to gentle human touch. He can be a little stubborn in obedience training, but with patience he will come along nicely, and certainly would be able to achieve his Canine Good Citizenship certification.

Chase is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. Chase is in optimal health, and has been recently neutered and has had routine vaccinations and health screenings.

Additional adoption info

When we receive your completed application we will check your references, including your veterinarian, and then call you to discuss your situation and requirements.. If you are approved for adoption, we can then discuss with you which of the dogs might fit best into your life. We will either arrange for you to visit the dog in its foster home, by appointment, or transport the dog to your home.

To help cover the veterinary expenses of our foster Eskies and to support our rescue effort, Eskies Online will charge you an adoption fee of $350.00. We do not sell dogs. We charge a flat fee--whether the Eskie is a puppy or an older dog; whether it came to us with minimal veterinary needs or requiring major medical care; whether the Eskie makes a short or a long stay in our foster system.

More about this rescue

Eskies Online is a 501(c)(3) Multibreed rescue group that serves unwanted American Eskimos and other dogs in need and finds qualified, permanent, adoptive homes for them. In the foster home environment, we are able to evaluate the dog's temperament and behavior patterns away from the stress of shelter life. Eskies Online is funded entirely through adoption fees, donations and the generosity our volunteers.
