Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jazz von Jarmen is an adorable, 9–10-month-old Shepherd mix. She is a pro on the leash, even at this young age. She walks well in a group and is right by your side! Jazz is good at meeting people and dogs on her walk. She is relaxed and happy. She will shower you with kisses in exchange for scratches, pets and belly rubs. She is treat-motivated and already knows “sit” and “paw," and will show them off for something delicious. Jazz is a social girl who plays well with dogs of all personalities, including high-energy puppies. However, she says no to kitty friends.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
