My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are looking to adopt a true underdog - look no further because our boy Chevy is ready to find a family to call his own and this boy is the epitome of what a true underdog is
Chevy was found by a very good person after being hit by a car and it was obvious his injuries were extensive - they took him to a local emergency clinic and he was microchipped - well after I did some research later it appears Chevy was adopted from one of the "free" adoption events at a shelter and needless to say they had no interest in getting him back and would not even come sign him over so he could go to rescue sooner - but the emergency clinic did everything to keep him comfortable until he could be released legally. It was a known fact that his veterinary care was going to be extensive and more than likely close to 20000.00 and we surpassed that to be honest and not many rescues were jumping on saving this boy and I will say honestly I had hesitations but then I thought so this little guy has fought to stay alive just to be euthanized - nope not happening and he joined the rescue. And on intake to us it was found that he needed emergency surgery for a diaphragmatic hernia which was not expected but he came through it like a champ and then started the orthopedic surgeries on the 3 broken legs (2 different surgeries) And after every major surgery he would wake up bright eyed and alert and ready to eat - there was no stopping him
Chevy is estimated to be 7-8 months old so yes he has experienced a lot at a very young age but as we always say this boy just loves life and it is so obvious. He is 30 pounds and we do not expect him to get much bigger and as far as breed - we honestly have no idea - a very loveable mutt with big ears
Here is what his foster Mom India had to say about this special boy:
Hi! I'm Chevy, and I'm ready to find my perfect home! I am very smart and love being around people. I am very high energy and would love to go on walks and have a lot of space to run around. I'm ALL puppy ALL the time as I'm finally getting to be one after getting my legs fixed and having to stay calm for so long.
I am crate trained, but sometimes vocal in the crate. I know how to sit, but we're still working on holding still. I'm still learning to not use hands as toys (and I do love my toys!) so I would do well with someone who has the patience to help me continue to learn.
I have done well with dogs I've met so far, but am very high energy so I would need a friend to match me. I am very interested in cats, and would have to be trained to leave them alone because I want to play with them.
With time and patience, I will be a perfect companion dog. I am very food motivated and want to learn so I can be with you all the time!
Chevy's adoption fee is $250.00 - he is neutered and has been put back together like Humpty Dumpty for sure, he is current on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, has had a full blood panel done (more than once) and he is current on heartworm and flea/tick medication.
If you are interested in adopting this very special boy please go to our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org and fill out one of our adoption applications - we do NOT set up meet and greets until the application has been received and reviewed. We do vet reference checks and also a home visit - and as a reminder we do no have a facility - our dogs are in private foster homes throughout western north carolina and upstate south carolina
Chevy deserves a family to call his own - he beat every odd stacked against him and I always say these dogs go on to do great things and I honestly believe that for Chevy

Additional adoption info

Our fees are:
$250.00 (for All Ages)
*Unless otherwise noted

All of our rescues will be spay/neutered prior to adoption, unless they are under 6 months of age or recommended by our vet. All dogs will be micro chipped prior to adoption and come with a care package at the time of adoption

Our application process is as follows:
First an application should be filled out at our website www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org on the Foster/Adoption Application page. A vet reference check is done to verify all the animals currently in the home are UTD on vaccines as well as Heart Worm Preventatives. A phone interview will be conducted, and the final step is a home check.

Go meet their pets

All of our rescues are fostered in separate homes, as we do not have a facility yet. We do have occasional adoption events, which can be found on our website calendar at www.boxerbuttsandothermutts.org or on our Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/boxerbuttsandothermutts

More about this rescue

We are located in Western North Carolina. We do adopt out of the area with transport, although, certain dogs have to be adopted locally, and that is always stated in the description. If you adopt a puppy out of our area or choose to use a different vet, we have an application amendment to be filled out as well for the spay/neuter & vaccine contract.
