Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Petunia Is a kissoholic. She can't help it. She is just so loving and affectionate with all humans. She is an active older pup who loves to run and play. She rode well in her finder's car and stayed with him for several days. She wasn't around other dogs or children. At the shelter she is determined to make sure she is not overlooked. She is very vocal when seeing dogs, humans, or anything she thinks she needs to bark at. She is jumpy but knows the sit command. She also seems to know something about house training because she usually wants to do her business outside. She is excitable and eager on a leash and likes to lead the way. She is attentive . She likes snuggling and being petted. She weighs 30 pounds and plans to grow a bit but for now she is a good lap-sized pup. Please offer sweet Petunia the home and family she deserves. Pet Adoption Fees
CAP adoption fees include a variety of services - age-appropriate vaccinations, canine heartworm, and feline leukemia tests, spaying/neutering, deworming treatment, microchipping to name a few - the total value of which exceeds $450. These minimal adoption fees cover only part of each animal's stay at our shelter - please help us keep adoption fees low while maintaining the high quality of care for the animals in our charge by donating and/or volunteering.

A second dog or puppy, adopted within 30 days of the first adoption receives a $20 discount.

Any dog/puppy adopted at the same time as a cat/kitten will be adoptable at a $20 discount.

Citizens For Animal Protection, founded in 1972, is committed to sheltering, rescuing, and placing homeless animals in loving homes; advocating respect and compassion for all animal life; providing humane education to prevent animal cruelty; and raising awareness in the community of the needs of animals.

CAP is proud to announce that through life-saving adoption and transfer programs and a lot of hard work, we have maintained a placement rate of over 93% for all homeless pets surrendered to our shelter in 2021. In 2021, CAP provided care for 10,260 animals; this includes animals surrendered by the public and transferred in from animal control agencies and rescue groups, animals already in the shelter and foster care program, feral cats trapped/neutered/returned and animals receiving vaccinations and other treatments in our low-cost vaccination clinic, The Cornelius Clinic.
