My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sex: Male

Breed: German Shepherd/Pitbull x

Estimated Date of Birth : 10/26/2022

What do you give an insecure dog? You give them time. Time to adjust, time to grow confidence and time to trust. Rocky has been in our care for over a year. He doesn’t have a lot of reasons to be a confident dog. His life has been hard. He was originally abandoned on the streets and came into the county shelter with a broken leg. His family never came for him and our guess is that his previous home life wasn’t great. While his exterior healed his heart is definitely going to take longer.

And Rocky’s heart is HUGE! Once he knows you he’s the goofiest most affectionate boy, but it’s that stranger danger that holds him back and that’s why he’s still in our care. Adopters want super social dogs and they struggle to navigate Rocky’s insecurities. Rocky needs an adopter willing to put in the time he needs to be the amazing dog we know he can be. Time, patience, understanding and this insecure dog will thrive!

Can you give Rocky what he needs? He gets all the squishy wiggles when he’s with his people, people he knows and trusts. We’d love to see him finally in a home of his own. He loves his canine pals and has great dog to dog social skills. A canine buddy or two to pal around with would be perfect. If you have all the things to make this sweet boy the happiest dog alive please apply to bring him home. He’s waited long enough.
