My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Riley is an adorable, sweet puppy that was found running loose in rural Kentucky. He and his brother, Waldo, were transported to Columbus to be fostered by Pet Promise.  We are guessing he’s about 10-12 weeks old and weighs about 10 pounds. Because we don’t know the size or breed of his parents, we can’t be sure how big he will get, but we would guess 30-50 pounds. By their looks, we are guessing he is an Aussie/Shepherd Mix.  He probably was raised outside because he’s doing outstandingly on house breaking.

Riley is a typical happy, playful puppy. He is very sweet and loves people, especially when he’s in your lap and being pet!  He likes kids and other dogs.

We can really see Riley doing well growing up in just about any family environment. He would be a wonderful addition for an active family who can give him lots of exercise and enrichment to help him be the best pup he can be!

He is a smart boy and is showing progress each day learning a lot! He is working on his puppy commands and manners. He will need a patient, consistent family to continue his training.

He will ready for puppy classes when he is adopted and fully vaccinated.

We HIGHLY encourage obedience/behavior training for all of our pups once adopted into their forever homes.

If you live an active lifestyle and are ready to bring this lovable boy into you home, please apply to meet him.

Additional adoption info

PetPromise volunteers do their best to ensure that all of the PetPromise pets and their new owners are the perfect match. For that reason the adoption process may take several days to complete. We do our best to ensure that the adoption of the pet is "for life."

If you are interested in adopting a particular pet, please complete an online adoption application at http://petpromise.org/adoption-application. We conduct reference checks and require a home visit before any adoption. The adoption fee varies by pet.

More about this rescue

PetPromise is an Ohio 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization made up of volunteers who are dedicated to creating a world where there are no more homeless pets through education, rescue, sterilization, and adoption.

PetPromise rescues animals from high-kill animal shelters and provides foster care, medical care, and rehabilitation to once homeless, neglected, or abused dogs and cats as well as adoption services so that these pets may find loving permanent homes.

Through our City Kitty Program, PetPromise works with feral cat caregivers to control feral cat populations in central Ohio through trap/neuter/return. , PetPromise provides rabies vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery and offers the use of humane traps when needed.

The PetPromise Pet Food Pantry provides temporary assistance in the form of cat and dog food free of charge to caretakers of feral cat colonies and pet owners who are experiencing economic hardship.

The founders of PetPromise began rescuing and finding homes for stray cats and dogs in 1996. The founders along with a network of other people interested in the welfare of homeless companion animals formed PetPromise in 1999. PetPromise was officially incorporated on February 4, 2000.
