My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cutie Pie Alert!  Fiona is 8 to 9 years old. She is just 7.5 lbs b. Fiona is timid but once she finds out you have a lap, she is your BFF. And don't miss her itty bitty "mohawk". Fiona has the cutest little cow lick on the top of her head. She's not the most photogenic of pups but trust us...Fiona is ADORABLE!

Fiona is good with other dogs and guess, what?! She is cat-friendly too. Fiona is comfortable with everyone. She is a good fit for someone looking for a dog to take to work or to keep you company in the home office. Fiona would be a fun outing partner exploring the local cafes and shops. Fiona is also ideal for the homebody since she is content with short outings and loves to spend hours snuggling. And if you garden, you do all the work and Fiona will sit in the sun supervising!

Fiona is happy sniffing about the yard and finding a nice sunny spot for napping. She enjoys trips to the dog park. And a simple stroll around the neighborhood is all the exercise she needs but by all means, tuck her in a sling and take her on longer jaunts! Fiona loves car rides, too.

Fiona is spayed, microchipped, and current on her vaccinations. Fiona had a major dental in March 2024. Fiona uses a doggy door during the day and piddle pads at night. She does have the occasional accident.

Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for FIONA is $300.

If you want to adopt FIONA, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area.

Additional adoption info

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy foster to forever transition. The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home check, and an adoption donation. The adoption donation helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.

More about this rescue

Grateful Dogs Rescue was founded in 1990; its mission is to rescue dogs not made available for adoption at San Francisco Animal Care and Control, and other local shelters, through no fault of their own. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these dogs in a loving home until a forever loving home is found.

Grateful Dogs Rescue is always in need of new foster homes!  You can make a difference by fostering. The number of dogs we can save is dependent on having foster parents to care for them until they find their forever homes. All of our dogs are in foster care.
