My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peanut would make a great companion dog. He is calm and quiet and loves to cuddle. Peanut took a couple months to really start showing his personality and get comfortable with his foster home. His favorite place to be is on the couch curled up under a cozy blanket. Peanut is about 9 years old and 9 pounds

Peanut is a VERY well behaved little dog. He rarely barks, he is not a runner and will come when called. He enjoys occasional treats (he is picky about what treats he likes) and he does not chew on things he shouldn’t. He is happiest around his person so he doesn’t wander far. He is fine with other dogs (mostly he is uninterested) but would do best with other small dogs. Peanut does great in the car. He prefers to have a bed or blanket to sleep on as he doesn’t like the slippery seats but he settles right in his bed for the ride.

He is house trained though he is not a fan of pooping outside in stormy weather! He does best with a covered area to go when the weather is bad. He had a couple pee accidents at the beginning of fostering but that hasn’t been an ongoing issue.

All in all Peanut is just a sweet little love bug who wants to live out his older years in a warm cozy loving home. He has loads of cuddles and toe licks to share!

Peanut had a dental with some extractions to get ready for adoption.

Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Peanut is $200.

If you are interested in adopting Peanut, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/
. One of our volunteers will get back to you. Peanut is being fostered in Santa Rosa.

Additional adoption info

The Grateful Dogs Rescue adoption procedure is designed to find a good match between the dog and adopter. Our goal is a happy foster to forever transition. The adoption procedure includes an application, interview, home check, and an adoption donation. The adoption donation helps to cover spay/neuter, shots and other medical care given before the dog is made available for adoption.

More about this rescue

Grateful Dogs Rescue was founded in 1990; its mission is to rescue dogs not made available for adoption at San Francisco Animal Care and Control, and other local shelters, through no fault of their own. Rather than letting these dogs be euthanized, Grateful Dogs saves as many as possible by fostering these dogs in a loving home until a forever loving home is found.

Grateful Dogs Rescue is always in need of new foster homes!  You can make a difference by fostering. The number of dogs we can save is dependent on having foster parents to care for them until they find their forever homes. All of our dogs are in foster care.
